Winters Flat Primary School (VIC)
After only 18 months in the role of leading teacher at Winters Flat Primary School, Jackie Haines has already led a whole school change in curriculum that has paid off in improved data across the school. ‘Passionate about education’ and ‘improving outcomes for all students’, Haines brings her own interest and research into international best practice to the school, and has used this to oversee the school’s adoption of New Zealand Maths, which resulted in the school becoming a leader in the state in this area. Said to support her colleagues with knowledge and mentoring, Haines has helped engineer a dramatic change in the teaching practice across the whole school. Her leadership potential has been recognised by the Victorian education department, with her acceptance into the competitive ‘Unlocking Potential’ program run by Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership.
