A big thinker, innovator and problem solver, Cameron Taylor has impressed his colleagues and community by overhauling how his school thinks about ‘knowing your student’. In what has been labelled a signifi cant contribution and one that will ‘quite simply enhance the likelihood of each boy reaching or exceeding his potential’, Taylor has reinvented the way the school uses data by creating his own database and reporting mechanism that builds a comprehensive student profile. Mixing a range of internal assessment data, external data including NAPLAN, and touchstone contacts with teachers, Taylor has brought the full picture of each student together in a ‘meaningful way’, and made it transparently available to all. It has already improved student decisions, teacher focus and, ultimately, learning outcomes.
