Far Out Friday: Teacher strips…to teach biology

It seems that Dutch biology teacher, Debby Heerkens at Groene Hart Rijnwoude school in the Netherlands, knows a thing or two about holding the attention of her students.

Heerkens got the idea after seeing someone sporting leggings showing all of the muscles that were beneath them. She later looked on the Internet to find a full body suit depicting the human body in its various layers.

As she began her demonstration in class, Heerkens stood on a table in front of the students and began removing her clothes, stunning everyone in the room.

Working from the outside in, she removed each layer, beginning with the body’s entrails and eventually getting to the skeleton.

Not surprisingly, her unique demonstration soon made its way to Facebook where it attracted more than 6,000 likes and at least 500 shares. Heerkens told CNN the costume had been designed to keep her students engaged in class.

“At first they were a bit in shock because they thought ‘the teacher is taking off her clothes,’ until, they saw what was underneath,” she said, adding students at the school are asking when the next lesson will be.

Heerkens said many of those posting on the school’s Facebook page said they hoped their school would introduce similar classes
