Sal Khan confirmed as keynote speaker for EduTECH Australia 2024

One of the world’s most prominent education thought leaders has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at EduTECH Australia 2024.

Sal Khan – founder of Khan Academy, a non-profit organisation with a mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere – will speak exclusively at the event, which is being held in Melbourne between 13-14 August at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Since Khan Academy was founded in 2009, it has attracted more than 150 million registered users, been translated into more than 50 languages and is used in more than 190 countries.

Sal’s book ‘The One World Schoolhouse’, outlines a bold vision for the future of education and makes the case for teaching and learning approaches moving beyond “a broken top-down model invented in Prussia two centuries ago”.

The book also discusses why technology will make classrooms more human and teachers more important, how to bring creativity and true human interactivity back to learning, and why people should be very optimistic about the future of learning.

Indeed, Sal’s impact on education has seen him recognised as one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, profiled by 60 Minutes, and even featured on the cover of Forbes.

In addition to being CEO of Khan Academy, Sal is also the founder of Khan Lab School, a non-profit laboratory school in Mountain View, California, a co-founder of Schoolhouse.world, a non-profit that offers free tutoring over Zoom, and co-founder of Khan World School, a new non-profit online high school.

At EduTECH Australia 2024, Sal will speak about his groundbreaking impact on learning through AI technologies, the exploration of adaptive learning environments and how AI tailors learning experiences for students and educators. His talk will also address the key challenges associated with AI integration in schools.
