A principal of a top private school says sensationalist tendencies of the media can discourage school heads from reporting abuse.

    What a baseless excuse!

So effectively the Principal is saying that the rights of the child and the safety of students and the welfare of the school community and the right of the parents and community at large are all deemed by him as being less important and a distinctly lower priority than the reputation of the school?

If he is the Principal then I pity the next generation of morons who come out of that school following the 'leadership's" lack of responsibility, sense of logic, understanding of the law, concern for others, and safety of persons in his charge.
