    No kidding Sherlock! Serious waste of research funding to get to that conclusion! Schools have known this forever. Getting parents to the table is the hard part. We have no shortage of supportive strategies to encourage this to happen, but in the end, there are parents who choose "Not" to engage. Perhaps making it a legal requirement of every parent under the Education Act to be involved with some reasonable consequences to NOT engaging - like the loss of parenting rights. If a lack of education is not a child safety issue, then what is! A life without learning is limited at best.
