As older principals retire, a new study shows their deputies are reluctant to take up the job due to the workloads, stress and burnout it can bring.

It is time the Governments of all states began valuing the retired Principals and offer them the ability to offer supportive roles. I am seeing active discouraging pf use of retired Principals by Departments as they believe these older Principals will not support or fit the change paradigms being spruiked by Department Heads. We have a lot to offer the students of Australia by being able to mentor and support younger current Principals in the system.
