A NSW Education Department directive to report the parents of obese children has come under fire from the federal president of the Australian Medical Association

I would like to know when parents will be called upon to take responsibility for their children's health and social issues.

And, why is it that schools have to take on ALL the responsibilities for the ills of society?

These added extras see the school Day squeezed to the limits and, this has an impact on those subjects in the six key learning areas of the NSW Primary Education Syllabi.

Could this too be considered to be a form of education neglect and thus the teachers should be reporting themselves?
